DAY SIXTY-ONE: Eighty-Twenty Rule

The price of a two litre bottle of soda has increased from $1.25 to $1.50 in the last week. “It’s only a quarter, no big deal,” you might say. Actually, it is a big deal, because this is a twenty percent price increase. Twenty percent seems to have become the norm for price increases. Property taxes increased by twenty percent. Insurance costs increase by twenty percent. Electricity rates have increased by twenty percent over the past several months.

The only thing that is not increasing is my income. On a slightly productive note, yesterday afternoon I found a nearly new pair of Adidas running shoes in the closet. They were a gift from a relative quite a while ago. During my cleaning-out process I had recently found an extra Nike+ shoe pod sensor. I also foundĀ  a shoe pod pocket for attaching the Nike+ sensor to non-Nike shoes that I had removed from an older pair of running shoes. Yesterday, then, I put all three things together, and I charged my Nike+ Sportwatch. No, I didn’t actually run, but now I have a new pair of shoes that are ready if or when I become ambitious enough to resume exercising.

My morning weight was 199.8 pounds today. Uh… yeah.
